Artist's Description

A costellation of the zodiac, through which the sun passes from late January to mid Febuary. It represents a goat with a fish tail. In ancient times the Sun lay in Capricornus at the winter solstice, its farthest point from the equator.
The effect of precession has now moved the winter solstice into neighbouring Sagittarius, but the latitude on Earth at which the sun appears overhead on that day is still known as the tropic of Capricorn.

About Ian Merton

Ian Merton

Hello and welcome to my fineart America website. My name is Ian, and I live in the small village of Great Yeldham in the county of Essex, England. I enjoy going out with my camera to various locations, mainly Suffolk to explore and to find a great shot. I am interested in many areas of photography and also enjoy creating digital art paintings from my pictures in Photoshop. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I have taking them. Many thanks. Ian. As from the 10th November 2019 for 1 year I'm offering a 15% discount on all my images. Please use discount code THNBJJ
